“As long as this exists, and I live to see it, this sunshine, the cloudless skies, while this lasts, I cannot be unhappy” – Anne Frank
This North Carolina weather has been absolutely gorgeous. Sunny skies, flowers blooming and warm breezes.
I decided to re-read Anne Frank’s diary after watching Freedom Writers where it inspired students to learn. Reading it has made me appreciate the simple joys of living a free life.
I have the freedom to go outside, to do things I enjoy and spend time with my friends.
I am also free in Christ as it says in Galations 5:1, “it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”
Many people see Christianity as a set of rules or think it is restricting, but really it is about being free from the grip of sin and out of love of Christ that we desire to keep the commandments. Not because we feel like we need to follow the rules.
Like I said, reading Anne Frank’s diary has been a great reminder to be thankful for my freedom.
“Go outside, to the fields, enjoy nature and the sunshine, go out and try to recapture the happiness in yourself and in God. Think of all the beauty that’s still left in and around you and be happy.” -Anne Frank
